The Chophouse - Mt Vernon: Premier Steakhouse with Exceptional Service & Historic Charm

Worth every penny! The steak, snapper, and lobster are my go-to dishes—and that's saying a lot because my husband grills the best steaks around. It's hard to justify going out when you've got a grill master at home, but this place? Totally worth it. Here's the thing: it's not just about the food. It's the whole vibe—the patrons, the owners who make you feel like family, and of course, those perfectly crafted drinks. Whether you're celebrating something special or just treating yourself to a Tuesday night out, this is the kind of place where you want to see and be seen. Five stars, no question. My husband's grill might be legendary, but on some nights, it will just have to wait while we enjoy a night out at the Texas Chophouse!

Anniversary dinner with my wife and the food was fabulous. 1st time visiting but will definitely be returning regularly.

Absolutely loved coming to this gem. The owner Stephanie and her husband Brad are wonderful and friendly people. Brynn is an amazing bartender. So attentive and sweet. Now, onto the food, you must get the bacon wrapped quail. The entire menu is delicious as always and never disappoints. We enjoyed the decor and all of the history that comes with this experience.

My family just came from here and I don’t think I have ever been so impressed with a restaurant AND the staff!!! This place was literally a hidden gem! First off, the history and character of this place, is amazing! Second, the staff…..I wanted to take them all home! From the hostess’s, waitresses, GM and up to the owners. They make this place! Third, the food!!! It was delicious! What was supposed to be a quick dinner , ended up lasting over 2 hours and not because we had to wait for our food. The service was quick , and exceptional. It was because we loved talking to the staff! A perfect night, ending with hugs and smiles and full tummies. Thank you to EVERYONE at The Chophouse! This was the highlight of our trip! We will be coming back to see those updates and absolutely cannot wait!!!

Staff were friendly and personable. Drinks were good! Food was amazing! I had Linguini with shrimp - awesome!! Husband had Crème Brûlée and raved about it!

My husband and I enjoyed a rare night out and had such a wonderful experience! We started with drinks and the rolls with cinnamon butter—absolutely amazing! For our main course, we both had filets with a wedge salad and baked potatoes. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the baked potatoes were delightful, and the wedge salad was crisp and fresh. After our meal, we were given a tour and learned about the history of the building, which added such a special touch to the evening. No need to travel to Dallas for a great steak—this place has it all! We’ll definitely be back!

food, drinks and service were top notch. it was quite loud inside and would have interfered with having a real conversation. fortunately there were tables open on the patio and the hostess was very accommodating when we asked to switch to an outside table even though our reservation was for inside. would definitely eat here again.
